Product Description

EC339A 3 Axis Digital Compass is a high-performance, low-power consumption, tilt-compensated electronic continuous bore-hole compass module that provides industry-leading heading accuracy.

EC339A can output pitch, roll and azimuth and magnetic-field component automatically or manually. It is optimized for petroleum and Geological bore-hole surveying. It is very suitable for borehole clinometers systems.

EC339A adopts solid state compass design, it has stable operation, high accuracy and advanced hard iron compensation function. It can overcome surrounding magnetic interference.

EC339Aworking temperature can reach 125°. By advanced temperature-compensation algorithm, EC339A can output high-accuracy attitudes in full temperature range.

Electronic compass system

The electronic compass system is composed of 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis magnetic sensor, analog to digital converter, and Microcontroller. A microcontroller (MCU) is used to collect the 3-axis accelerometer raw data for the pitch and roll calculation

and collect the 3-axis magnetic sensor raw data for the heading calculation. The following is the procedure for building a working electronic compass system.

- Hardware design to make sure the MCU can get clean raw data from the accelerometer and the magnetic sensor

- Accelerometer calibration to obtain parameters to convert accelerometer raw data to normalized values for pitch and roll calculation

- Magnetic sensor calibration to obtain parameters to convert magnetic sensor raw data to normalized values for the heading calculation

- Test the performance of the electronic compass system.
